PRIVACY NOTICE

Newhaven Baptist Church holds a limited range of personal data to enable us to keep in touch with people and provide pastoral support as appropriate. This includes names, addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers, but no sensitive data other than people’s connection with our church. Under Data Protection legislation the Deacons (ie Trustees) of Newhaven Baptist Church are the Data Controller. Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.

Names and contact details may be entered into our password-protected church database which is administrated by the Deacons and held on a single computer. All forms containing personal details are kept in a locked cabinet, accessible only to the Minister, Deacons and other church leadership as appropriate to the involvement of the person concerned. Contact details are removed from the database, and forms destroyed if an individual is no longer involved with the church.

Membership of any church organisations, such as Sunday School or Parents and Toddlers, and optional inclusion in the Church Directory, are documented by separate registration forms also regulated by our Privacy Policy.

You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to one of the Deacons. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified. If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled please contact one of the Deacons.. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office
